Round One

The season is off and running, and my start in the tipping competiton leaves a great deal to be desired.
My picks: St Kilda (expletives deleted), Carlton (well, Eddie warned me), Demons (sweet revenge), Eagles (good), Port (more expletives), Geelong (looks like along season for the Tigers), Swans (ditto for the Hawks), Collingwood (groan).
Oh well, it could have been worse.

I had a friend who had a very interesting class analysis of the football codes. He said that League was the football played by the workers, Union was the football played by the bosses, and Aussie Rules was the game the workers and bosses played together.
Bravehawk, there wasn't all that much to the Hawks I could see when my team beat them soundly. Look for the Swannies high up in the final eight this year.

Yes that is my take on the three codes although the boundaries between the rugby codes are becoming more permeable.
The really interesting thing is the extent and egalitarianism of football following in the south, where the Chairman of the Board can enjoy chat about the footie with the janitor. Especially if they follow the same team!
